:~ ~~ <br />Item ll: The Manager recommends a speci..al appxapx%ation of S10D be <br />made available to JOCGA. The agenda stated that Wes Hare, Director of <br />JOCCA, has requested the Board of Commissioners make a special appropriatioi <br />of $100 to JOCCA to assist two poor pexsons to attend a regional public <br />hearing sponsored by the Community Services Administration that will be <br />held in Atlanta. JOCCA is planning to take a van with representatives <br />from Orange and Chatham Counties and its staff. Chatham County has agreed <br />to provide $100 to assist two of its residents to attend this session. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Willhoit, secanded by Commissioner Pinney, <br />it was moved and adopted that $100 be appropriated from the Contingency <br />Fund to JOCCA for this request. (See Page 428A far Budget Amentment) <br />Item 8: The Manager recommends an annual appropriation of $2,000 be <br />provided to secure services of a Civil Preparedness Coordinator. The <br />agenda attachment stated that the present Civil Preparedness Coordinator <br />has served in this capacity for some ten years without compensation, and, <br />is unwilling to continue serving without compensation. The County Manager <br />suggested several alter'natives.as solutions to the problem, however, he <br />also recommended that the requested compensation be provided on a monthly <br />rate of $166.66, effective November 1, 1977. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Pinney, <br />it was moved and adopted to accept .the Manager's recommendation to provide <br />a monthly rate of $166.66 to the Civil Preparedness Coordinator for service: <br />rendered. <br />Item 9: The Manager recommends approval of a new Annual Contributions <br />Contract for Section 8 Housing with the Unites States Department of Housinc_ <br />and Urban Development. The agenda attachment stated that the proposed <br />Annual Contributions Contract reflects HUD's total allocation of Section 8 <br />units in OrangeGounty (31D) and their commitment of $849,384.00 to support <br />these units. This contract is signed by the Board of Commissioners, acting <br />as the Orange County Housing Authority, once each year. If additional unit: <br />are allocated during the year, an amended contract will be prepared. ~ <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Walker <br />it was moved and adapted to approve the Annual Contributions Contract for <br />Section 8 Housing with the U. S. Department of Housing anc? Urban Develop- <br />ment. <br />(For copy of Resolution Authorizing Execution of an Annual <br />Contributions Contract, see next page.) <br />Item 10: The Manager reports the recommendation of the State Depart- <br />ment of Transportation relating to addition of Moriah Hill Road to the <br />State Road system. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Walker, <br />it was moved and adopted to acknowledge the receipt of the recommendation <br />from the Department of Transportation.. <br />The Board briefly discussed the passibility of having a work session <br />at the regular fourth Monday night meeting. <br />The meeting was then adjourned. <br />L <br />and E. it ed, Chai n <br />Agatha Johnson, Clerk <br />
