In summary
he said that this report was the culmination of four years of work on parks and recreation in the
County. The work includes three reports. All of the reports recommend exploring coordinated capital
funding and note the potential for Orange County to take the lead in future joint park facilities that
serve the population of the entire County. A memorandum of agreement for co-location of facilities,
the towns, and both school systems has been developed by the Schools and Land Use Councils and
has been agreed to by a number of parties. The agreement calls for exploring opportunities to co-
locate whenever new public facilities are planned.
The sum total of park projects is $63 million, with $47.5 million not funded at this time.
