Chair Carey said that he had heard that people with chronic conditions were
showing up for free health care. Mr. Newton said he thought they had seen some of this
on a limited basis.
Commissioner Gordon asked if anyone became really sick or died because of
lack of response.
Mr. Newton said he did not see this where he was. He reminded everyone that
he only saw a small slice of the pie and it was very different than New Orleans.
Commissioner Jacobs said that it is imperative that a review of the multi-hazard
plan be done annually and that they might want to set a review date. He pointed out
several things that need to be addressed: responsibility of commissioners, conflict
ordinance, animal needs, public information officer, radiological hazards, separation of
aging and transportation in the Department on Aging.
Chair Carey said there will be a discussion with Triangle J about an update on
what each county is doing and what we can do to work together better.
Jack Ball pointed out that Section 14-31 of the County Ordinance identifies
some of the restrictions Commissioner Jacobs referred to.
Chair Carey thanked everyone and said they would look forward to seeing
updates of these plans.
The meeting adjourned at 7:10 p.m.
