Hypertension <br />Quality Improvement Initiative: Using Internet-based patient registries all internal <br />medicine residents review the outcomes of their patients with hpertension through <br />electronic chart review and calculate overall cardiovascular risk. Information is used to <br />target high risk patients and those with poorly controlled hpertension for intensification of <br />medical management within UNC Internal Medicine Clinic. Residents were instrumental <br />in developing management algorithms. They are engaged in Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles <br />that are patient outcome-based. Initiative satisfies internal medicine core competencies <br />of practice-based learning and system-based practice. 2006 to present. Same Day <br />Clinic, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Internal Medicine Clinic: In 2005-6, was <br />charged by the leadership of the Department of Medicineand Division of General Internal <br />Medicine to structure and develop the Internal Medicine Same Day clinic as a model <br />venue for delivering efficient, high quality acute care within a teaching curriculum. 2005 <br />to present. Contiuity of Elective for Internal Medicine Residents: Developed and <br />implemented continuous two month outpatient rotation for Internal Medicine Residents. <br />Residents rotate through several modules including: acute care, anticoagulation, <br />diabetes cae, chronic pain management, continuity clinic, travel clinic, and one-on-one <br />preceptorship with attending physician. 2005 to present.
