State Road #1819, 1820, 1821, and 1822. <br />(For copy of Notice and Preliminary Assessment Resolution, <br />see page 377 of this book.) <br />Item 8: The Manager recommends acceptance of bids from A2atarola for <br />two portable generators to be used in the Countywide communication network. <br />The Administrative recommendation is to accept the low bid of Motorola for <br />$8,195 and authorize the Chairman to sign a contract with Motorola. The <br />contract document has been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Pinney, it was moved and adopted to accept the County r4anager's recom- <br />mendation to accept the low bid of Motorola for $8,195. <br />(For copy of EMS Communications Generator Bids, see page 385 <br />of this book.) <br />The County Manager ,asked that the Board of Commissioners consider the <br />approval of the budget amendment necessary to fund this purchase. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson <br />it was moved and adopted to approve the Budget Ordinance Amendment for the <br />Emergency Medical Service Communication System. <br />(For copy of Project Ordinance Amendment, see page 385 of this book.) <br />Chairman T4hitted informed the Board that an item which had been added <br />to the agenda was in regard to the appointment of someone to the Jury <br />Commission. Ms. Charlotte Adams had served during the 1975-76 term, <br />however, her term has expired. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner <br />Willhoit, it was moved and adopted to reappoint Ms. Adams to the Jury <br />Commission if she is willing to sa serve. The Clerk was instructed to <br />contact Ms. Adams. <br />Another item added to the agenda was in regard to a ruling by the <br />Federal Communication Commission concerning the use of Paging. <br />The County Manager explained to the Board the ruling which says that <br />in 1980, the use of one-way radio used as pager will be abandoned. He <br />stated that the Commissioners are being asked to support efforts of the <br />EMS Council to amend or modify this ruling by FCC for Orange County. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson suggested that a letter be directed to NACO <br />and the North Carolina Association of Counties informing them of this <br />ruling and request that the ruling be talked about in the Newspaper (NACO) <br />to learn how other counties feel about this directive to their rescue squads <br />and EMS systems. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner Pinney, <br />,. it was moved and adapted that the Chairman sign a letter to NACO, which will <br />be prepared by people from the EM5 staff and the County Manager. The letter <br />will also be sent to the North Carolina Association of Counties. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson further suggested that copies of the letter <br />be sent to the State Senators and Representatives. <br />The County Attorney presented to the Board a Contract between the <br />County of Orange and Attorney Lunsford Long for IV-D services. Mr. Gledhill <br />normally represents the County's IV-D Enforcement Program Clients, however, <br />there is a conflict of interest for one particular client and the County <br />Attorney request that Mr. Long represent this client, which necessitated <br />the signing of the Contract. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner Pinney, <br />it was moved and adopted that the Chairman sign the Contract with Lunsford <br />Long. <br />The Chairman asked the County Attorney to look into the possibility of <br />a Noise Ordinance and to report his findings to the Board. <br />The meeting was adjourned. <br />r <br />--..... . <br />Richard E.
