2 <br />Park was selected by the T.I.M.E. committee upon recommendation by Orange County Parks & <br />Recreation Department. Community volunteers may assist Ms. Newport with the painting and <br />will be required to sign a "hold harmless clause". Ms. Newport's artwork will relate to the theme <br />of recreation and baseball athletics chosen by the T.I.M.E. committee and Ms. Newport wil! <br />coordinate with appropriate County staff regarding the installation. It is anticipated that this <br />temporary public artwork will not be replaced after it fades away. (NOTE: Commissioners have <br />been informed about the progress of this project by the Arts Commission via two Managers <br />Memos dated January 9, 2009 and June 16, 2009.) <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: $807 from the Arts Commission's FY 2008-09 state Grassroots Arts <br />Program allocation from the NC Arts Council will be used for this project. In addition, up to <br />$2,000 in County money (from the FY 2009-10 local arts grant money) will be used for this <br />project. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Interim Manager recommends the Board authorize the Interim <br />Manager to sign the Letter of Agreement with artist Cindy Newport contingent upon final review <br />by staff and the County Attorney. <br />
