:~ ~. <br />cS v v <br />P?TNUTFS <br />ORANrE COT]NTY BOARD OF COMr?1SSTONEP.S <br />SEP'.?'RP?BF P. 6, 1977 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, <br />September 6, 1977, at 10:00 a.m., in the Commissioners' room of the <br />Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Present were Chairman Richard Whined, Commissianers Norman (;ustaveson <br />Jan Pinney, Norman TM7alker and nonalc? ?^7illhoit. <br />Staff personnel present were S. T?, rattis, County P?anager, deal Fvans, <br />Finance Officer, and Agatha Johnson, Clerk. Jeffrey f=ledhill, County <br />Attorney was also present. <br />The Chairman opened the meeting and referred to Item 1 on the Agenda: <br />Persons not on this agenda having business to transact with the Board of <br />Commissioners should make their presence known. <br />Mrs. Charles King, of the Colonial Hi11s Subdivision, stated that she <br />was present to present to the Board a petition for paving certain roac~.s in <br />the Colonial Hills Subdivision. <br />Signatures on the submitted petition must he c?ualified through the <br />County Tax 1epartment. <br />Mrs. King requested that the Board schec?u1e a public hearing to hear <br />discussion of the paving project. <br />t?rs. King was informed that a meeting would be scheduled later in the <br />day for the public hearing. The petition was then turned over to the Clerk <br />for vertification. <br />P?r. Marvin Silver asked the County Commissioners to consit~er a resolu- <br />tion for use of the unexpended 1976-77 Municipal Support funds for the <br />Chapel I?ill-Carrboro Recreation Program. He asked that these funds be de- <br />signated to open the school buildings for recreational purposes. <br />The Finance Officer was requested to inform the ~3oard of the balance. <br />t?rs. Nancy Coleman, Vice Chairperson of the County Health Board, asked <br />that the Board review candidate number 82 tar the position of Health Ac~rlini- <br />strator IIT and to take some action. <br />Lucy Liggins presented to the Board petitions for the paving of State <br />Road 1368 ([^Iill made Loop Road) in Cedar (;rove Township. <br />The Chairman informed Mrs. 7,iQgins that this road was number three on <br />the priority list and would be paved this year, providing there are no <br />right of way problems. <br />The petition was given to the Clerk, who will forward them to the <br />Highway Department in l;raham. <br />Mr. Fart Ross, f;eneral T?anager of P.FA, requested of the Board an <br />,Executive Session to discuss possible litigation. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson asked that the Board discuss the vacancy <br />which exists on the Health Systems A.gency's Board, ~~ <br />Commissioner [aillhoit asked that the Board designate some Commissioner <br />to serve as a representative of the Board to a Humanities Workshop, spon- <br />sored by the Chapel Hill-Carrboro School Board. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson asked that the Board endorse letters to be <br />sent to certain individuals relative to the events in the Cheeks Community <br />of the week of August 28th. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson asked the Board to schedule a work session, <br />and to take immediate action (scheduling of a meeting) regarding 2-40. <br />A date is to be set for a meeting of the Planning Committee for the <br />Human Services Conference. <br />
