5
Orange County
Advisory Board on Aging
July 30, 2009
The Honorable Valerie Foushee
Orange County
Board of County Commissioners
P.O. Box 8181
Hillsborough, NC 27278
Dear Chair Foushee:
Subject: Re-appointment and Re-assignment
Dr. Peggy Cohn's first term as an at-large representative on the Advisory Board on Aging
expired on June 30, 2009 and she is eligible for re-appointment to a second term. Dr.
Cohn had to miss the last several meetings of the 2008-2009 Fiscal Year meetings due to
her husband's illness. She also provided oversight for she and her husband in moving to
Carol Woods Retirement Community. The Advisory Board By-laws provide that
absences due for medical reasons maybe excused. Dr. Cohn is now interested in
resuming her responsibilities to the Board beginning with the August meeting. Having
been a valued member, the Advisory Board is eager for her return. At the June 9 meeting
the Board recommended Dr. Peggy Cohn for re-appointment.
Also, on June 30, Mr. Jerry Kruter completed his second term as the Carrboro Resident at
Position # 5 and rotated off the Board. Ms. Heather Altman was appointed to the Board in
January 2009 as an at-large representative at Position # 9. Ms. Altman is a resident of the
Town of Carrboro. The Advisory Board recommends that Ms. Altman be re-assigned to
the vacant Position #5 requiring Carrboro residency thus providing an at-large vacancy
for future applicants.
Thank you for your consideration of these actions.
Respectfully submitted,
Jerry M. Passmore, Secretary
