Blythe <br />TELEPHONE NUMBER <br />Hillsborough 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968 -4501 <br />Mebane 227 -2031 <br />Durham 688 -7331 <br />----------------------------------------------------------------------- <br />PURPOSE: To appoint the Manager, Clerk to the Board and Attorney and <br />review present County Commissioner' appointments on the various County <br />boards and commissions. <br />BACKGROUND: As part of the Board organization, G.S. 153A -81 allows <br />boards of commissioners to appoint a manager who serves at the Board's <br />pleasure. Each board of commissioners must have a clerk who is <br />appointed directly by it and serves at its pleasure. The Board of <br />Commissioners must appoint a county attorney, who serves as its legal <br />adviser. County attorneys are not appointed to a definite term; they <br />serve at the pleasure of their boards. <br />Each member of the Board of Commissioners serve on various boards and <br />commissions. That list is an attachment to this abstract and provided <br />for discussion. <br />RECOMMENDATION: (1) Appoint a Manager, (2) Appoint a Clerk, (3) Appoint <br />a County Attorney, and (4) discuss the present boards /commissions list. <br />
