2 . ilk, .
The Board in 1996 authorized the Director of Purchasing and Central Services to
dispose of assets whose value is less than $500 for a single item or group of items.
Surplus computers fall within those parameters.
The action requested by the Board is as follows:
• Declare up to 20 computers as surplus; and
• Authorize the Director of Purchasing and Central Services to enter into negotiations
with the Literacy Council to establish the sale price and to carry out legal
requirements incidental to the disposal of public assets; and
• Authorize the Directors of Budget and Finance to take the appropriate budget and
accounting action to ensure a neutral revenue position for the Literacy Council in this
transaction.
The Literacy Council will be asked to provide the County with a list of locations where
the computers will be placed. Up to 20 computers may be disposed of on a per
justifiable request basis. Computers must be used in direct service to the public to
promote literacy in order for the transfer to occur.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board:
• Declare up to 20 computers as surplus; and
• Authorize the Director of Purchasing and Central Services to enter into negotiations
with the Literacy Council to establish the sale price and to carry out legal
requirements incidental to the disposal of public assets; and
• Authorize the Directors of Budget and Finance to take the appropriate budget and
accounting action to ensure a neutral revenue position for the Literacy Council in this
transaction.
