The by-laws do not require a County Commissioner to serve, however a <br />member does serve on this Board. STEPHEN HALKIOTIS <br />SKILLS DEVELOPMENT CENTER BOARD: This Board was established by the Board of <br />Commissioners at their October 18, 1994 meeting. No by-laws. The Board intends to identify <br />the employment skill development needs of county citizens and current or possible future , <br />businesses. A County Commissioner does serve on this Board. MARGARET BROWN AND <br />ALICE GORDON, ALT <br />WATER RESOURCES STUDY COMMITTEE: This committee was created by the Board of <br />Commissioners. The Charge recommends that a member of the Board of County <br />Commissioners serve on this committee. ALICE GORDON <br />CREATED BY COUNTY RESOLUTIONS OR OTHER BOARD OF COMMISSIONER <br />AUTHORITY <br />B. Groups On Which County Commissioners Are NOT Requested To Serve <br />AGRICULTURAL DISTRICTS ADVISORY BOARD: This Board was established by local <br />Ordinance pursuant to the authority conferred by the Farmland Preservation Enabling Act, GS <br />Article 61 of Chapter 106, Section 106-735. The purpose is to encourage the voluntary <br />preservation and protection of farmland. A County Commissioner does not serve on this Board. <br />ARTS COMMISSION: Established by Resolution of the Board of Commissioners which <br />appoints the Arts Commission members. They are charged with making recommendations to <br />the Commissioners on how to allocate matching NC State Aft Funds. A County Commissioner <br />does not serve on this Commission. <br />CABLE TV CITIZENS ADVISORY BOARD: This Board was established by the Board of <br />Commissioners in 1979 to develop recommendations on criteria to be used in granting a <br />franchise. This charge was clarified at the October 16, 1990 Board of County Commissioners <br />meeting. A County Commissioner does not serve on this Board. <br />CARRBORO PLANNING BOARD AND BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT: CHAPEL HILL PLANNING <br />BOARD AND BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT: HILLSBOROUGH PLANNING BOARD AND BOARD <br />OF ADJUSTMENT: ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING BOARD AND BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT: <br />The GS provide for the establishment of both Planning Boards and Boards of Adjustment. A <br />County Commissioner does not serve of any of these Boards. <br />COMMISSION FOR WOMEN: This Commission was established by Board of County <br />Commissioners on March 25, 1976. The members are appointed by the Board of <br />Commissioners. They advocate to the Commissioners, educate the community, develop <br />programs, support the Human Relations Commission and provide information and referral.
