Orange County Health Department <br />The Board of Health at its November meeting discussed the need for a three to five year <br />strategic plan. While not yet ready to submit such a goal, the Board wished to inform the <br />Commissioners that such a goal will be forthcoming. <br />Items likely to be included in such a strategic plan would include: <br />• Increased focus on mandated services and core functions <br />• Increased focus on Orange County specific priorities: cardiovascular health, <br />cancer prevention, preventive services for children, substance abuse <br />prevention <br />• Increased dental health services in both locations <br />• Increased voluntary programs in food service consultation and inspections <br />• New focus on air quality monitoring and assessment, especially indoor air <br />qty <br />• New focus on developing adequate surveillance systems and database <br />resources for all areas: environmental health, communicable diseases, <br />immunization tracking etc. <br />
