5 <br />amendments and found that they were consistent with the County's Land Use <br />Plan. <br />Commissioner Gordon will be provided information on all <br />amendments shown in bold type on pages 6, 7, and 8 of the agenda. This <br />item will be discussed at a later meeting. <br />B. AUTOMATED INFORMATION AND REFERRAL UPDATE AND FUNDING <br />Albert Kittrell summarized the information in the agenda. <br />He asked that the Board consider allocating an additional $15,000 to this <br />project to be used for computer hardware and software. This brings the <br />total cost of this program to $90,000. He noted that next years budget <br />will be $61,500. <br />Anita Daniels from United Way spoke in support of this <br />request. Michele Rivest, Director of the Partnership for Young Children, <br />spoke in support of this request. She noted that she expects continued <br />funding for this project from Smart Start for next year. <br />Loretta Harper, Director of I & R, said that citizens will <br />be able to dial into an operator to access needs. There will be numerous <br />community dial in sites. They also plan to list information requested by <br />Realtors. <br />Commissioner Crowther expressed his desire that this system <br />be dedicated to providing information primarily on human services, and <br />other information only as space permits. <br />Commissioner Gordon agreed and also suggested that private <br />groups who list information should help pay the expense of this project. <br />A motion was made by Chair Carey, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gordon that the Board allocate $15,000 as designated in the 1995-96 CIP <br />for Human Services Automation to the Automated Information and Referral <br />Project. <br />VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br />X. REPORTS <br />A. SAFE SCHOOLS REPORT <br />Jean Bolduc, Safe Schools Coordinator, presented this <br />report. She distributed and summarized a survey that was conducted last <br />month which examined the attitudes and perceptions of students and <br />teachers toward the Community Resource Officer program. <br />The Board received this report as information. <br />B. 1994-95 COMPREHENSIVE ANNUAL FINANCIAL REPORT <br />The Board received the Comprehensive Annual Financial Report <br />for the fiscal year ending June 30, 1995 for information only. The <br />complete report is in the Commissioners' Library. Copies of the overhead <br />projections are in the permanent agenda file in the Clerk's Office. <br />C. MINIMUM HOUSING CODE <br />The Board discussed the proposed amendments to the Orange <br />County Minimum Housing Code Ordinance. They decided to present these <br />amendments for citizen comments at the February Quarterly Public Hearing. <br />XI. APPOINTMENTS- NONE <br />
