C. <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />ORANGE COUNTY <br />FtESOLUT ION <br />WHEREAS the Orange County Board of County Commissa.aners <br />has been informed that the town of Hillsborough has requested <br />the the county's representatives in the General Assembly sponsor <br />legislation which would expand the town o~ Hillsborough's <br />extraterritorial planning and regulation of development juris-- <br />diction to include all territory four miles beyond the town`s <br />corporate limits; and <br />WHEREAS the Orange County Board of County Commissioners <br />is presently involved Xn comprehensive re-evaluation of the <br />planning needs of Orange County, which re--evaluation includes <br />study of the area which would be included in the town's <br />planning and regulation of development jurisdiction if local <br />legislation consistent with the town's request is adopted; and <br />WIiEREAS North Carolina General Statutes § 160A--360(a} pro <br />vides for the exercise of extraterritorial planning and regulatio <br />of development jurisdiction by towns within limits prescribed <br />in the said statute; and <br />WHEREAS the Orange County, Board of County Commissioners <br />has determined that it would be in the best interest of the <br />citizens of Orange County for the town of Hillsborough to <br />,exercise planning and regulation of development jurisdiction <br />consistent with the general law of the state and particularly <br />with North Carolina General Statutes § 160A-360(a}; and <br />WHEREAS the Orange County Board of County Commissioners <br />has determined that it would not be in the best interests of <br />the citizens of Orange County if the planning and regulation of <br />development jurisdiction of the town of Hillsborough was in- <br />creased beyond that prescribed in North Catalina General Statutes <br />
