value to meet the normal daily requirements for the <br />condition and size of the animal. <br />3. All animals shall have fresh water available at all <br />times. <br />4. All areas housing animals shall be free of accumulated <br />waste and debris and shall be maintained regularly so <br />as to promote proper health. <br />5. All areas housing animals shall be free of accumulated <br />or standing water. <br />6. All animals housed shall be provided with proper <br />veterinary care to promote good health. <br />C. Standards for Pet Shops. All pet shops, as defined herein, <br />including pet shops run in conjunction with another animal <br />facility, shall, in addition to the other requirements of <br />this ordinance, comply with the minimum standards of this <br />section. Failure to meet these standards shall be grounds <br />for the issuance of a citation subjecting the owner to the <br />penalties described herein, and/or the issuance of an <br />abatement order to comply with the provisions of this <br />ordinance. Owner or operators of pet shops must apply to the <br />Animal Control Director, pay any designated privilege Ue~etea: fee, <br />tax and receive a permit to own or operate a pet shop in <br />Orange County. Facilities shall be subject to inspection <br />during reasonable hours by the Animal Control Officer or <br />other appropriate representative of the Animal Control <br />Officer or other appropriate representative of the Animal <br />Protection Program upon his or her request. The premises <br />for pet shops shall meet the following standards: <br />1. There shall be available hot water at a minimum <br />temperature of 140 degrees Fahrenheit for washing cages <br />and disinfecting, and cold water easily accessible to <br />all parts of the shop. <br />2. Fresh water shall be available to all species at all <br />times. Containers are to be cleaned and disinfected <br />each day. All water containers shall be removable for <br />cleaning and be mounted so the animal cannot turn them <br />over or defecate in them. <br />3. The temperature of the area around the animal <br />enclosures in the shop shall be maintained at a level <br />19 <br />
