Seconded by <br />McAdams. <br />VOTE: 6 in favor. <br />3 opposed (Brooks - felt uncomfortable that the Planning Board was not allowed <br />to make recommendations on specific ordinance amendments; was glad that the <br />question of some representation was addressed but was concerned that some of <br />the other issues such as affordable housing and agricultural use should be <br />addressed and not leave it up to Carrboro. Katz - felt that the future of <br />Carrboro and the Rural Buffer is something that the County should have a hand <br />in. He felt that the decisions that Carrboro will make in the future about that <br />area will be different than what is in the document and noted he was skeptical <br />that it will be something to be proud of. Barrows - noted that she was worried <br />about the fact that we have ignored the Transition Areas I and II and that sort of <br />planning premise feels like it goes out the window if we're going to leap -frog <br />out to areas here, there and yonder coupled with her basic suspicions about <br />villages. <br />Strayhorn noted that he had some of the same concerns as Barrows until he <br />visited Transition Area I and found that most of the land that could be used is in <br />active farmland and he could not force more pressure on someone willing to <br />farm that expensive land that near a town. He felt that they were to be <br />commended.
