:83 <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />FEBRUARY 15, 1977 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session on <br />Tuesday, February 15, 1977, at 7:30 p.m., in the Superior Courtroom of <br />the Courhouse in Hillsborough. <br />_ Present were Chairman Richard Whiffed, Commissioners Norman <br />Gustaveson, Jan Pinney, Norman Walker and Donald Willhoit. <br />Others present were S. M. Gattis, County Manager, Neal Evans, Finance <br />Officer, A. B. Coleman, Jr., Steve Bernholz, and Jeffrey Gledhill, County <br />Attorneys, and Agatha Johnson, Clerk to the Board. <br />Chairman Whitted deferred to Item 1 on the Agenda: Persons not on <br />this agenda having business to transact with the Board of Commissioners <br />should make their presence known. <br />Mr. Edgar Long of SR #1508,, stated that he was present to discuss <br />the paving of SR #1508. He stated that ten homes were located on the <br />road, as well as having two school buses which traveled the road. <br />The Chairman informed Mr. Long that the Highway Department in Raleigh <br />rated roads in the County, and the roads were then put into priority <br />according to their rating. <br />Mr. Long was requested to circulate a petition among property owners <br />and after obtaining signatures, return the petition to the Clerk and it <br />will be forwarded to the Highway Department. The Clerk was instructed <br />to provide Mr. Long with all available information concerning SR #1508. <br />Chairman Whitted stated that he would like to add to the agenda <br />Item 13: Special Use Permit from the Town of Chapel Hill for the <br />Northside School Property. <br />Item 14: Chatham-Orange Joint Emergency Medical Service has requested <br />the Board's approval for the hiring of an information officer. <br />Item 15: Appointment to the Dogwood Acres Sanitary Board. <br />Item 16: Review of the Budget forms previously submitted. <br />Item 17: A resolution submitted by Wes Hare, Chairman of the Youth <br />Service Needs Task Force. <br />Chairman Whitted referred to Item 2: Minutes of Board Meeting <br />held on Februaay 7, 1977. <br />The Board reviewed the minutes of February 7, 1977, and pointed out <br />certain corrections. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gustaveson, it was moved and adopted to approve the minutes of February <br />7, 1977. <br />Mr. Whitted referred to Item 3: A report from the Tax Collector <br />of the uncollected taxes on real property as of December 31, 1976. <br />The Chairman recognized Johnny Horner from the Tax Collection <br />Department. Mr. Horner stated that the total amount of unpaid taxes <br />for the current fiscal year that are liens on real property amounted to <br />$629,937.29. The total for 1975 was $690.301.67. <br />Item 4 on the Agenda suggest that the Board of Commissioners fix <br />a date for the sale of 1976 tax liens on real property. The Tax <br />Collector recommends June 6, 1977, as this date. Dates for advertising <br />these sales are Mays, 12, 19, and 26, 1977. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gustaveson, it was moved and adopted to schedule June 6, 1977, as the <br />date for the sale of 1976 tax liens on real property. Advertising of <br />these sales will be May 5, 12, 19, and 26, 1977. <br />
