Cmw, Diisctor <br />v~~ <br />This memorandum is to announce the application period for 1999 federal Historic Preservation <br />Fund. (IMF) grants. An estimated $70-130,000 (depending on Congressional action) maybe <br />available in matching funds for preservation grants to local communities or nonprofit <br />organizations. In accordance with federal requirements, $65-70,000 of the state's allocation must <br />be reserved for grants to communities that participate in the Certified Local Government (CLG) <br />program (see enclosed list). <br />I enclose a 1999 Grant Application packet. The narrative information and application form can be <br />used by both CLG and non-CLG applicants and for aU types of projects. A competitive process is <br />used to select all recipients. Grants aze awazded on a 60/40 matching basis, and range from <br />$1,500 to $10,000. All projects must be completed by September 30, 2000.. <br />Eligible projects include architectural and azchaeological surveys, prepazation of nominations to <br />the National Register of Historic Places, local government preservation plans, and the <br />preservation of properties listed in the National Register. Educational programs, reseazch, and <br />publications are usually not funded.
