the read had been constructed to State Standards and the County should <br />release the security on the road. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner <br />Walker, it was moved and adopted that Joe T. Matthews, the developer <br />of the Falls of New Hope, be released from the bond and that the Deed <br />of Trust and Note be canceled. <br />The County Manager brought to the Board's attention Item 7: A <br />Public Hearing has been set for 12:00 Noon, today to consider the <br />resolution to close that portion of Cedar Creek Drive situated within <br />Orange County, that was adopted by this Board on November ]., 1976. <br />Mr. Gattis stated that William Winders, Attorney for the Petitioners, <br />• had requested that the petition be withdrawn, and the the public hearing <br />be canceled due tc some problem which had occurred in Durham County. <br />Chairman Whitted asked that an additional item be added to the <br />agenda which dealt with appointments to the various committees on which <br />Mrs. Garrett had served. <br />Mr. Whitted referred to Item 6-B: The term of Marion Alexander on <br />the Chapel Hill Board of Adjustment expires June 30, 1976. The Clerk <br />was instructed to write the Chapel Hill Board of Adjustment and request <br />recommendations to appoint to this vacancy. <br />6-C: The Commissioners should name one consumer representative to <br />the Durham-Orange Manpower Training Council. The appointment was post- <br />poned until the Tuesday night meeting. <br />6-D: The Orange County Board of Commissioners should designate <br />someone to serve as their representative on the Durham-Orange Manpower <br />Council. (The Manager recommends a Board Member serve in this posi- <br />tion as the Mayor of Hillsborough, the Mayor of Durham and the Chairman <br />of the Board of Commissioners of Durham County are presently serving <br />on this Council. <br />The Board agreed to wait until the Board had their discussion <br />concerning appointments to make this designation. <br />6=E: Two vacancies, created through the resignations of Mr. <br />Norris Ray and Mr. Donald Willhoit, exist on the Carrboro Planning <br />Board. <br />Commissioner Willhoit stated that he would like to recommend that <br />5herry Wogen and Terry Middleswarth be appointed to these vacancies. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Willhoit, seconded by Commissioner <br />Pinney, it was moved and adopted that 5herry Wogen and Terry <br />Middleswarth be appointed to the Carrboro Planning Board. <br />6-F: The position of first alternate an the Orange County Board <br />of Adjustment is vacant as Ms. Mary Whitted has been named as a full <br />member to that Board. <br />This appointment was deferred until a recommendation was available. <br />6-G: One person should be named to the Hillsborough Planning <br />Board to fill the unexpired term of Dr. Irwin Brody. The town has <br />submitted names of three possible nominees: Mr. Wilson Cole, Ms. <br />Izis Cates and Mr. Murphy Barnes. <br />Commissioner Walker moved that Murphy Barnes be named to the <br />Hillsborough Planning Board. Commissioner Pinney seconded the motion. <br />The Chairman called for the vote and all members of the Board <br />voted aye. The motion was declared passed. <br />G-H: The term of Ms. Evelyn Murdock on the area Board of Mental <br />Health will expire on December 31, 1976. Ms. Murdock does not desire <br />reappointment. This item was far information only. Appointment to <br />this vacancy was deferred until the first Monday in January. <br />Chairman Whitted continued with Item 8: The Planning Director <br />will deliver a tentative report reviewing some of the issues involved <br />
