Mark Schulz
711 Dumont Drive
Hillsborough, NC 27278
Monday, February 22, 1999
Dear Orange County Commissioners:
I am a member of the Orange County Bicycle Task Force. As a member
of the Taskforce, I strongly support the bicycle plan for Orange County
that Slade McCalip is presenting to the Commission this evening. The
Taskforce has worked diligently on the plan. I hope you will give it
careful attention and endorse it.
I commute regularly between my home northeast of Hillsborough and the
UNC- Chapel Hill School of Public Health. My usual route is Dumont Dr.
to St Marys Rd., left on Cameron for one block and right on Margaret
Lane to Churton Street. Then, I follow Old 86 to Carrboro. Each of last
two years I have cycled over 2,500 miles, and most of those miles have
been commuting miles. Given my on the road experience, I hope you will
give serious consideration to the problems that I describe in the attached
letters.
Finally, I ask you to act expeditiously on the Bike Plan. The Taskforce
completed its work last June. I think we have a right to see action on
our work soon.
Sincerely,
Mark Schulz
