V. EVALUATION <br />t <br />A. Assessing Progress - Pro - Bicycle indicators will provide the tasks, if completed, that will accomplish <br />the objectives and therefore the goals of this plan. <br />1. The presence of a Bicycle Program Coordinator defines the very existence of a formalized bicycle <br />program. <br />2. Citizens are involved through a formalized Bicycle Advisory Board (created by ordinance or <br />resolution) and other advocacy groups. <br />3. Elected Officials and Government Professionals (engineers, planners, police and others) support <br />cyclists. <br />4. Inclusion of Bicyclist considerations in annual budget. <br />5. Planning and policy documents include bicycling considerations. <br />6. Regulations, codes and ordinances mandate minimum standards for bicycling considerations. <br />7. Roadway design manuals ensure provisions for cycling. <br />8. Bicyclists are represented on the Planning Board. <br />9. Professional Staff regularly attends bicycle - related training. <br />10. Bicycling considerations are included in overall Transportation Demand Management Strategies. <br />11. Road Maintenance includes debris removal and other related cyclist considerations. <br />12. Better cycling crash reporting has been institutionalized. <br />13. Communities have been designated by the League of American Bicyclists as Bicycle Friendly. <br />B. Making Corrections <br />1. Annual report on the above Pro -Bike Indicators should be submitted to the Board of County <br />Commissioners. <br />2. The Annual report should also contain recommendations (to include names, phone numbers and <br />tasks to be accomplished) for the accomplishment of Pro -Bike tasks not completed. <br />16 <br />
