The results for the
two -hour period are summarized below. SU stands for single unit trucks (not
including pickup trucks, while TTST stands for tractor trailer /semi - trailer
vehicle.
Lawrence Road at US 70 Business
Northbound: 12% SU, 3 % TTST
Southbound: 14% SU, 2% TTST
Eastbound: 6% SU, 0 % TTST
Westbound: 80/o SU, 0% TTST
Total intersection: 10% SU. I% TTST
Lawrence Road at Old NC 10
Southbound: 12% SU, 1% TTST
Eastbound: 10% SU, 0% TTST
Westbound: 9% SU, 0 %a. TTST
Total intersection:. 10% SU, 0% TTST
Old NC 10 at NC 86
Northbound: 4% SU, 0% TTST
Southbound: 4% SU, I %TTST
Westbound: 6% SU, O %TTST
Total intersection: 4% SU, 0% TTST
US 70 Business at US 70
Northbound: 2% SU, 0% TTST
Southbound: 3% SU, 0% TTST
Eastbound: 4% SU, '0% TTST
Westbound: 3 % SU, 0% TTST
Total intersection: 3% SU, 0 %TTST'
Capacity analyses were reviewed to include the specific vehicle classifications
counts. The original data reflected the following default assumptions: 85%
auto, 10% SU and 5% TTST. The only intersection where conditions change as
a result of the revised analyses is the intersection of NC 86 and Old NC 10 -
during the A' vl peak hour under existing conditions. The westbound approach
delay is reduced from 21.6 seconds per vehicle to 19.7 seconds per vehicle,
thereby improving the LOS from D to C. The approach delay is marginally
reduced at several other intersections: however, the reduction is insufficient to
alter the LOS rating_, of these inter: ections.
