include people who would take advantage of existing bicycle routes. As this area
continues to develop, the Town may consider extending the bicycle network to the east
on US 70 Business.
3.4 Pedestrian Plan
The Town's Pedestrian Plan does not include designation of any streets within the study
area for this subdivision. Recreation facilities within the subdivision, planned for use by
residents of the subdivision, will be within walking distance of residents. All streets
within the subdivision are proposed to have sidewalks.
3.5 Transit
The Orange County Transit System (OCTS) currently provides transit service along'US
70 as far east as the Sports Plex, approximately one mile west of the subdivision. Two
trips per day are currently provided, with plans to expand service to four trips per day.
The system provides service to Chapel Hill, including NC Memorial Hospital and the
University of North Carolina. If the system were extended to serve the subdivision, a
bus stop and appropriate facilities sould be provided at a bus stop. The potential for
extension, bus stop location, and facilities to be provided should be determined through
discussions with OCTS.
3.6 Parking
All of the lots will provide off - street parking for the occupants' vehicles. In addition, 14
spaces will be provided near the central recreation area for visitors parking. An
additional nine spaces will be provided near the playing field and picnic area in the
northern portion of the subdivision.
