Unfortunately, personal <br />income and health insurance coverage <br />too often determine: the frequency of such care. <br />Among the Year 2000 health objectives for <br />the nation are a number of risk reduction and <br />service objectives that target adults. Those in- <br />clude objectives to increase the proportion of <br />adults who have recently had a variety of car- <br />diovascular and cancer screening tests and the <br />ADULT HEALTH <br />proportion of older adults who have had flu and <br />pneumonia immunizations. Other objectives <br />stress education and counseling, which are <br />clearly critical to maintaining health and pre- <br />venting disease in the adult population.2 <br />Twelve access indicators for adult health fol- <br />low.
