Strategy 42 and Time Line <br />To improve access by all county residents to the preventive services (medical, educational, <br />therapeutic, counseling) available in Orange County. <br />By 2003, increase by 25% the utilization of existing nutrition, .fitness and substance abuse <br />programs; <br />By 2003, increase by 25% the number of nutrition, fitness and substance abuse programs <br />available at low cost or no cost to community residents; <br />By 2003, increase by 25% the number of residents who have had a routine medical check up <br />• within the last year (baseline 70% in 1996). <br />By January 1999, develop plan to educate the public and professionals about the existing services <br />in Orange County. <br />By January 1999, establish comprehensive understanding of barriers (e.g. transportation, cultural, <br />language) to access and begin plan to reduce those barriers (e.g. cultural sensitivity training for <br />health care professionals, interpreter services to assist Spanish speaking clients): <br />2.
