7 <br /> The Board considered a proclamation expressing the Orange County Board of <br /> Commissioners' appreciation to Clerk to the Board Donna Baker for her service to Orange <br /> County and to declare May 3 through May 9, 2009 as "County Clerks week" in Orange County. <br /> Chair Foushee said that this was for all of the Clerks in the Clerk's Office. She said <br /> that the Board was very grateful for the service that it receives from all of the members of the <br /> Clerk's Office, including David Hunt, Evelyn Cecil, Angela Rockett-Thompson, and Jeannette <br /> Jones. She asked them all to stand. <br /> Commissioner Jacobs read the proclamation. <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> COUNTY CLERKS WEK <br /> MAY 3 THROUGH MAY 9, 2009 <br /> WHEREAS, The Office of the County Clerk, a time honored and vital part of local government <br /> exists throughout the world; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Office of the County Clerk is the oldest among public servants; and <br /> WHEREAS, The Office of the County Clerk provides the professional link between the <br /> residents, the local governing bodies and agencies of government at other levels; and <br /> WHEREAS, County Clerks have pledged to be ever mindful of their neutrality and impartiality, <br /> rendering equal service to all; and <br /> WHEREAS, The County Clerk serves as the information center on functions of local <br /> government and community; and <br /> WHEREAS, County Clerks continually strive to improve the administration of the affairs of the <br /> Office of the County Clerk by serving countless hours beyond the normal business day working <br /> a multitude of night and weekend meetings; and <br /> WHEREAS, it is most appropriate that we recognize the accomplishments of the Office of the <br /> County Clerk; <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, We, The Orange County Board of Commissioners do recognize the <br /> week of May 3 through May 9, 2009 as County Clerks Week and further extend appreciation to <br /> our County Clerk, Donna Baker, and to all County Clerks for the vital services they perform <br /> and their exemplary dedication to the communities they represent. <br /> This, the 51h day of May, 2009. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Jacobs, seconded by Chair Foushee to approve <br /> the proclamation. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS <br /> 4.
