We received infvm~ation from. your office and <br />-tl~: 1 c,wn Manager that projected several possible subdivisions coming on line in <br />nortrierrt Orange County over th9 next few years. This was also highlighted in a <br />recent newspaper article that projected approximately 2500 new homes and/or <br />-~p~~rtments to be constructed in our district. The new elementary and high <br />:scheduled for construction will better prepare our system for this possible growth, <br />but our two middle schools are currently at or above capacity now. Our Board <br />w~mts to begin a discussion about a new middle school, and a more realistic <br />cfi;;c:ussion concerning school capacity as it currently exists. <br />T tie fom~ula for projecting the number Of students living in a new development is <br />c:carif::ntiy .33 per home for the Orange County Schools. It is our understanding <br />that the Chapel-Hill Carrboro System uses .fifi per home. We feel the .66 is a <br />
