The County will make all personal computers available to both the Chapel Hill- <br />Carrboro Schools and the Orange County Schools prior to the auction. Quotations were solicited <br />from local auctioneers with Bob Crawford Auction Service of Hillsborough North Carolina <br />submitting the lowest responsible fee (2%). A tabulation of the results is enclosed. The auction <br />will be held on Saturday, May 15, 1999 at the Public Works Department located on Highway 86, <br />Hillsborough. <br />By statute, a notice of the Auction will appeaz in the paper thirty days prior to the date of the sale. <br />The County will also advertise in the Durham, Chapel Hill and Hillsborough newspapers. <br />Advertisements will appeaz in the Sunday paper one week prior to the sale and will provide a <br />complete listing of items. A reminder ad will appear in the Durham and Chapel Hill Newspapers on <br />Friday May 21, 1999 and Saturday May 22, 1999. The auctioneer will format and print sale <br />handbills. The auctioneer will circulate the handbills in a manner that would provide the best <br />coverage. Copies of the handbill will also be mailed to persons who have requested copies. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funds generated from the sale of surplus personal property goes to <br />Orange County. Funds for the sale of abandoned and confiscated property is to be evenly divided <br />between the two school systems after deducting for expenses, as provided in the North Carolina <br />Statutes. <br />RECOMMENDATON(S): The Manager recommends the Board adopt the resolution. <br />
