The amount of the application is $181,941.00.
BACKGROUND: Since FY 1995-96, Orange County has received grant funds from the NC
Depaztment of Correction to operate CJPP programs for both. Orange and Chatham Counties. These
programs include: (a) a pre-trial release program for the jails; and (b) a sanctions center to enhance
the offenders' success with probation. Both programs aze tazgeted for individuals sentenced to
intermediate sanctions and designed to reduce recidivism.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The programs operate solely on state funds and are administered through
contractual arrangements. Without this funding from the state, the programs will have to be
discontinued unless replacement dollazs can be secured. Grant acceptance will require an
appropriate budget amendment.
RECOMMENDATON(S): The Manager recommends that the Boazd approves the grant
application and authorizes the manager to sign.
