ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />August 24, 1976 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met on Tuesday, August 24, <br />1976, at 7:30 p.m., in the Orange County Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Members present were Chairman Flora Garrett, Commissioners Norman <br />Gustaveson, Jan Pinney, Richard Whitted and Norman Walker. <br />Members absent were none. <br />Others present were 5. M. Gattis, County Administrator; Neal Evans, <br />Finance Director; A. B. Coleman, Jr., County Attorney; and Betty June <br />Hayes, Clerk to the Board. <br />The first item on the Agenda was: Persons who might be present <br />having business to transact with the Board of Commissioners should <br />make their presence known at this time. <br />No one came forth. <br />The Chairman stated that it had been brought to her attention that <br />two sets of minutes of the Board of Equalization and.Review had not been <br />approved, and needed to be approved at this time. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Whitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Pinney, it was moved and adopted that the minutes of May 18 and May 24, <br />1976, for the Board of Equalization and Review be approved. <br />The Chairman referred to Item 22: The Manager r~:commends the <br />Board of County Commissioners execute a lease of office space in the <br />Eastgate shopping Center for Chapel Hill offices of the Health Depart- <br />ment. Agenda Attachment #1 stated that in the summer of 1974, the Chapel <br />Hill Office of the District Health•.Department moved from University <br />provided space near downtown Chapel Hill into larger quarters in the <br />Eastgate Shopping Center. At that time, the District Health Depart- <br />ment made substantial renovation to the space it acquired and the County <br />agreed to enter into a lease with the owners for a period of four years <br />at a fixed annual rent of $8,250. The lease document was not executed. <br />The owner is requesting a formal lease be executed under date of October <br />1, 1974. This lease would terminate September 30, 1978. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner <br />Walker, it was moved and adopted that the Chairman be authorized to <br />sign a lease agreement for office space in the Eastgate Shopping Center <br />for Chapel Hill Offices of the Health Department. <br />(For copy of Lease Agreement see Minute Docket Book 9, page <br />
