Hunt, Jr., Governor of North Carolina, has proclaimed the week <br />of April 11-17,1999, as National Public Safety Telecommunicators' Week, in North Carolina, <br />in recognition of the telecommunicators that work in emergency dispatch centers serving the <br />citizens of this state. Two national organizations also recognize and proclaim this week on <br />behalf of telecommunicators nationwide. The organizations are Association of Public Safety <br />Communications Officials and National Emergency Number Association. Telecommunicators <br />in Orange County are active in both organizations, working toward enhancing the quality of <br />service communications centers provide. <br />Orange County's communications center provides 9-1-1 services to all citizens in the County <br />and dispatches the appropriate emergency service(s) and law enforcement, in time of need. <br />Orange County's telecommunicators are among the highest trained in the State. <br />Telecommunicators provide a valuable service to the citizens and make Orange County a <br />safer place to live. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: N/A <br />RECOMMENDATON (S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the proclamation <br />designating the week of April 11-17,1999 as National Public Safety Telecommunicators' <br />Week, in Orange County. <br />
