<br />PUBLIC HEALTH MONTH PROCLAMATION <br />APRIL 1999 <br />WHEREAS, Governor Hunt has proclaimed April as Public Health Month in North <br />Carolina; and <br />WHEREAS, Promoting the health and well-being of all residents of Orange County is <br />paramount; and <br />WHEREAS, Controlling and eliminating communicable diseases is necessary to ensure <br />that our communities are healthy places in which to live; and <br />WHEREAS, Protecting residents by safeguarding water and food supplies and <br />monitoring waste discharge systems is critical for environmental and personal health; and <br />WHEREAS, Encouraging healthy lifestyle behaviors assures optimal quality of life and <br />improved health status; and <br />WHEREAS, Ensuring the optimal growth and development for all Orange County <br />children is vital for the future of our communities; and <br />WHEREAS, Public Health contributes to the prosperity of Orange County residents by <br />promoting health, preventing disease, and protecting the environment, every day, every <br />where, and for everybody regardless of religious, ethnic or socioeconomic background; <br />THEREFORE, We hereby proclaim April, 1999 as PUBLIC HEALTH MONTH in <br />Orange County. <br />SY°untY of ~'~ <br />r~ <br />'~~~ ~~W ~ <br />Y r` <br />Alice M.
