Box 8181 <br />200 5 Cameron Street <br />Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br />~= <br />\rt <br /> <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners will hold a special meeting on <br />Wednesday, April 7 at 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel Hill Town Chambers, Chapel Hill, North <br />Carolina. <br />The purpose of this meeting will be to hear a report from Dr. Gordon Thompson, <br />nuclear consultant hired by Orange County, on the risks and alternative options <br />associated with spent fuel storage at the Shearon Harris nuclear power plant. CP&L has <br />filed an application with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission proposing an expansion of <br />spent fuel rod storage capacity at the plant. Additional comments and information will be <br />presented by David Lochbaum, a prominent nuclear safety engineer with the Union of <br />Concerned Scientists. There will be an opportunity for citizens to ask questions. <br />All Board of County Commissioners' meetings are open and the public is invited <br />to attend. <br />Alice M.
