EMS - Existing Time Limited Telecommunicators <br />isRequest: Convert two existing full time permanent time limited Telecommunicator <br />positions to permanent status. <br />Purpose: To maintain the level of service currently established for Emergency Management <br />communications. <br />Job Functions: <br />• <br />❑ Receive and dispatch 911 emergency and non - emergency calls. <br />❑ Provide Emergency Medical pre - arrival instructions. <br />❑ Dispatch and monitor all agencies served. Contact required support agencies. <br />❑ Maintain all required certifications. <br />Reason for Request: <br />In July 1997 the Board established two permanent time limited Telecommunicator positions <br />with an ending date of June 30, 1999 to address the workload and provide coverage for the <br />continuing high turnover among Telecommunicators. Other than these positions, no <br />additional positions have been added in EMS Communications since 1993. The chart below <br />shows how demands have increased for the 9 -1 -1 Communications Center <br />Telecommunicators from the community over the past five years. Also law enforcement <br />personnel served have increased.
