23 <br />Arts Commission — Existing Arts Coordinator <br />•Request: Increase the hours of the existin g p ermanent part time 20 hour Arts Coordinator <br />uiator <br />position to 30 hours each week. <br />Purpose: Increase support to the citizens and artists of Orange County through <br />accomplishment of Orange County Arts Commission goals. <br />Job Functions: <br />❑ Provides information, referral and assistance on the arts in Orange County, serving as <br />liaison to citizens, artists and arts organizations. <br />❑ Develops and distributes information materials on the arts, including newsletters and <br />calendars of events. <br />❑ Plans and facilitates workshops, sessions on topics of particular interest and collaboration <br />on arts events and projects. <br />❑ Manages the activities of the Orange County Arts Commission and communicates these <br />to the Commission. <br />. ❑ Researches grant opportunities and develops grant applications to support the arts. <br />❑ Disseminates state and local arts funding through three annual granting cycles. <br />Reason for Request: <br />To provide staff support to accomplish the goals of the Arts Commission in support of the <br />arts in Orange County. <br />Outcomes: <br />❑ Develop an "Arts in Orange County" brochure to introduce citizens and visitors to the <br />area to the arts in Orange County and let them know where to go for more information. <br />Distribute 3,000 copies of the brochure at Visitor's Centers and Orange County <br />information kiosks and also make it available at workshops and public events. <br />❑ Publish the Arts commission newsletter /calendar four times each year (8,000 copies) <br />rather than three times (6,000 copies) and supply it to the Visitor's Centers in addition to <br />artists and arts organizations. <br />❑ Coordinate three additional workshops for professional artists and organizations on <br />business issues in the arts, arts advocacy, and audience participation. <br />❑ Update and maintain an Internet site with information on Orange County arts and arts <br />events. Develop a link between the Arts Commission database and Internet site to <br />provide greater access to information on Orange County artists and arts organizations. <br />
