There is a minor revenue offset by the <br />sale of maps. The operating costs cover telephone, supplies, duplicating, training and the <br />like. The start up costs cover the purchase of a GIS workstation (estimated cost $5,000), <br />telephone installation and computer furniture. <br />Relation to Board Goal(s): <br />Adequate Public Facilities and Phased Growth: A school adequate public facilities ordinance <br />requires a high degree of data transfer among the Towns, County and school boards that has <br />to be geocoded into a county wide plan for analysis. <br />Analysis of IM pacts of Growth and Development: This position will enable Planning to • <br />y P p p g <br />create scenarios of different development proposals and their impact such as cost of services <br />depending on location and value of household. <br />Sustainability: Assist in land value analysis to direct various land uses to appropriate areas <br />where services can be provided economically. <br />Innovation and Efficiency: Development of a data base that can be shared and used by others <br />reduces duplication of effort, time spent on data base problem solving/error correction and <br />provides the capability to be proactive in addressing changing conditions. <br />Communication: This will enhance understanding and communication by showing through <br />maps and other graphic presentations the impact of complex regulations. <br />I: \per99 \gisrep.doc <br />April 20, 1999. • <br />
