Orange County <br />Board of Commissioners <br />Action Agenda <br />Item No. <br />Action Agenda Item Abstract <br />Meeting Date: April 26, 1999 <br />Subject: Recommended New Positions and Changes in Existing Positions <br />Department: Personnel <br />Attachment(s): <br />1999 -2000 Position Report <br />(under separate cover) <br />Public Hearing: (Y/1) <br />Information Contact: <br />Elaine Holmes, Personnel Director <br />Telephone Numbers: - - ext. 2550 <br />Hillsborough 732 -8181 <br />Chapel Hill 968 -4501 <br />Durham 688 -7331 <br />Mebane 227 -2031 <br />No <br />Purpose: To receive a report on recommended new positions and requested changes in <br />existing positions for 1999 -00 and to discuss any questions, concerns, and <br />areas of support. <br />Background: Under separate cover, the Board has been provided with the staff "1999 - <br />2000 Position Report" covering: <br />❑ The Manager's recommended new positions for 1999 -00, <br />❑ Requested changes in existing County positions, and <br />❑ Potential resources required related to two specific initiatives (expanded <br />wastewater treatment program, innovation and efficiency). <br />In follow up to last year's budget work sessions, the Board had decided to <br />provide for an earlier budget work session on new position requests and <br />requests for position changes to allow more time for Board questions and <br />discussion of the position needs. To that end this work session has been <br />scheduled for Monday, April 26. <br />The agenda for the Board's April 26 work session provides for discussion of <br />the recommended new positions, the requested changes in existing positions <br />and potential resources related to two specific initiatives (expanded <br />wastewater treatment program and innovation and efficiency). <br />
