Garrett, Chairman <br />Agatha Johnson, Acting Clerk <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSrONERS <br />Tuesday, June 15, 1976 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session <br />on Tuesday, June 15, 1976, at 7:30 p.m. in the Commissioners' Roam <br />of the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Members present were Chairman Flora Garrett, Commissioners, <br />Norman Gustaveson, Jan~Pinney, Norman Walker and Richard Whitted. <br />Members absent were none. <br />Others present were S. M. Gattis, County Administrator; Neal <br />Evans, Finance Directox, Jeffrey Gledhill, County Attorney; and <br />Betty June Hayes, Clerk to the Board. <br />William Laws, Tax Supervisor, presented to the Board a Land <br />Use Evaluation and stated that this evaluation was adopted in 1974, <br />however, last year new legislation was passed which stated that every <br />County must adopt a new set of values for land use for appraisal <br />at its use value rather than its market value. He stated that the <br />evaluation was based on the number of bushels producted on different <br />types of soil in Orange County and that compared with the previous <br />year's evaluation, the new standards in Orange County were still within <br />the correct range. <br />Discussion ensued concerning advertising the evaluation as required <br />by law. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gustaveson, it was moved and adopted that the Land Use Evaluation <br />be approved and the Tax Supervisor was authorized to publish the <br />Land Use Evaluation in the newspaper. <br />(For Copy of Land Use Evaluation, See Minute Docket Book Nine, <br />Page 619 ). . <br />Chairman Garrett referred to Ttem I on the Agenda: Persons <br />not on the Agenda having business to transact should make their <br />presence known at this time. <br />No one came forth. <br />Item 22: Approval of Minutes - This item was deferred until <br />later in the meeting. <br />The Chairman referred to Item TI2: Appointments: <br />A. One member pf the Orange County Board of Commissioners should <br />be named as a member of the Board of Directors of the Triangle Committee <br />an Criminal Justice. <br />Mrs. Garrett informed the Boat~d that as of January 1, 1976, <br />the Commission on Criminal Justice was reorganized by merging with <br />the Triangel J Council of Governments, and as a result of the merger, <br />the bylaws of the Triangle Commission on Criminal Justice required <br />modification. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner <br />1~hitted, it was moved and adopted that Jan Pinney be nominated as the <br />Orange County Elected Official to the Board of Directors of the <br />Triangel Committee on Criminal Justice. <br />B. Jane Monree has resigned from Orange County's Commission <br />on the Status of Women. Chairman Garrett will nominate a replacement <br />on the committee. <br />
