Page 1 of ~1
as
C
From: Moses Carey [mailto:mcareyi@mindspring.com]
Sent: Tuesday, February 27, 2007 9:56 PM
To: Mike Nelson; Alice Gordon; Barry Jacobs; Valerie Foushee
Cc: Laura Blackmon
Subject: Haw River Public Trail Access
BOCC members;
This is to make you aware that I have authorized the staff to submit a application on Feb. 28th prior to our next meeting for funds
to possibly acquire land for the public Trail Access on the Haw River. It will be placed on the next board consent agenda for your
consideration and approval. This opportunity became available in the last few days and had a short time flame for submission
since the State Trails coordinator requested that we apply. this means that we have a great chance of being funded.
This project has been on our agenda for some time, but has not been a high priority until now after being requested to apply. If
you do not wish to approve this item after the fact, the application can be withdrawn or the money can be declined if funded.
However, I did not want to bypass this opportunity.
I recognize that there are financial implications such as a matching requirement and possibly some type of partnership with
other jurisdictions with whom we signed a MOU in 2006 to work together to achieve this goal in each of our jurisdictions. Th
items can be discussed after approval of the application and funding.
Please call me of the Manager if you have any questions.
