408 C. Amendment to implement the construction of the Vehicle Main- tenance Facility. (For Copy of Vehicle Maintenance Facility Budget Amendment, See Minute Docket Book Nine, Page ). Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Whitted, it was moved and adopted to approve the Budget Amendment to implement the construction of the Vehicle Maintenance Facility. Item VIII was deferred until later in the day. The Chairman referred to Item TX: Position Reclassification - The County Manager recommends that Position #145 in the Sheriff's Department be reclassixied from pay grade #53 to Pay grade #56. On Say 1, 1976, the salary of many County employees was adjusted by moving to the State Pay Plan. Ms. Amy Pettiford was at that time changed to a job described as Intermediate Clerk and classified in pay grade #53. Ms. Pettiford felt this to be an improper job classification and the Sheriff requested that this position be studied. At the request of the County Manager the Local C-,overnmental Section of the State Depart- ment of Personnel reviewed the job description of both clerical positions (and interviewed these employees) in the Sheriff's Department. Their recommendation is that both positions be classified as Typist II since both employees do substantially the same type of work. This will result in Ms. Pettiford's nay grade being raised from #53 to #56. The pay grade of the other position, already #56 will remain unchanged. The annual cost of this change will be $816. Both the Sheriff and the County Manager concur in this recommendation. Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner Walker it was moved and unanimously approved to accept the recommendation of the State Department of Personnel and reclassify the job of Ms. Pettiford from #53 to #56 effective May 1, 1976. Mrs. Garrett referred to Item X - Title XX Contracts: A. A Contract for housing rehabilitation with the Triangle J Council of Governments. This proposal was reviewed by the Board of Commis- sioners some two months ago. Ricky Poole, Administrative Officer with the Department of Social Services, stated that the contract had not been received from the re- gional office, however, he had been informed that the Contract was in the mail. Mr. Poole asked if he might bring the Contract in at a later meeting for approval. The Board agreed to so grant the request of Mr. Poole and this item will be added to the Agenda at a later date. B. Contract with the District Health Department for a Day Gare Health Supervisor. Action taken on this item was taken simultaneously with Item VII-B However, discussion ensued regarding Page 2, the paragraph which stated that Dare Care facilities are not adequate to ta]s~ care of small children whenever they have minor illness such as diarrhea or impetigo. Mrs. Garrett stated that she felt it was the responisbility of the parents to take care of their children when they are affected with these ill- nesses. Upon motion of Commissioner Gustaveson, seconded by Commissioner _ Pinney, it was moved and unanimously adopted the the Chairman sign the Contract with the District Health Department for a Day Care Health Super- visor.
