40~
Page 3
.~ Agenda Attachment #VTII
April 20, ].976..
In order that the project be entirely completed the County -
must provide an additional $23,270, However, this appropriation
may be delayed until next year's budget and then it would be
necessar to appropriate only $$,270 of the $23,2']p if you decide
not~a c ack the items shown on the first page oi' this memo.
RECOMME[iDA TI ONS
1. That the County accept the general contract of $x.0,100.
2. That the County reject the plumbing, heating and electrical
contracts as being too costly.
No additional action need to be taken at this time. The
plumbing heating and electrical work cannot start until the
building is errected. This can hardly happen before mi.d June.
$y that time we will be in a posa.tion to lmow what porti.an of
the project we can undertake to complete next year.
ALTERNATIVES
We feel it is not practical to rebid the project. We are.
certain no secondary contractor will do the electrical, heating
and plumbing far less than we have proposed. The general contract`
is being offered ($1~O,100) at as law a figure as iae have been able
to secure from any building dealer.
~. Reject the entire project as being too costlyo
TIME LIMITATION
Bads on this project were opened March 30th and the general
contractor is bound by his proposal. for 30 days. April 29th is
the last day we can hold the contractor to the present proposal.
we have unless he agrees to an extension. :
