~a2 <br /> <br />' -":.-~T'I'EM NUMBER VIII <br />VEHICLE FACILITY BIAS <br />At your meeting of April 12th the County Manager <br />reported to the Board of Commissioners the results of the <br />bidding on the County's vehicle maintenance facility. As <br />you wi11 recall the low bidders were: <br />General Contract Metal Building <br />Construction $64,000. <br />Electrical Quality Electric ~,455- <br />Plumbing Condor Plumbing ]1,.,705 <br />Heating Acme Heating 9,355. <br />Total $9$,715. <br />The engineer has spent some time negotiating with the <br />bidders and through deletions from the contract has worked <br />the base bids back to the following: <br />General $1,0,100. <br />Heating 3,300. <br />Electrical 5,950. <br />Plumbing 1.z, 9$4. <br />Total $6z,336- <br />The staff spent some time reviewa.n,g these bids with the <br />engineer and feels these negotiated prices are still too high. <br />They have looked at the in-house capability we have and <br />recommended to me what they feel to be our most economical <br />course of action. I concur with their proposals. This proposal <br />involves deletion of the office and storage area, stone around <br />the garage •and yard, the gasoline service island, pump, tanks <br />and associated facilities. 'Ihe garage cannot function in a <br />practical manner with these facilities deleted; however, it <br />will be necessary to remove these features from the contract <br />in order that we can execute a contract and start the project. <br />
