Resolution <br />INFORMATION CONTACT: <br />Karen Lincoln, 245-2594 <br />Craig Benedict, 245-2592 <br />PURPOSE: To consider endorsing a comprehensive transportation planning study for Orange <br />County and the participation of staff and the Orange Unified Transportation Board <br />(OUTBOARD) in assisting the North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) Planning <br />Branch in the comprehensive transportation planning process. <br />BACKGROUND: Orange County, in November 2008, adopted a 2030 Comprehensive Plan <br />that included a Transportation Element. Objective T-3.2 for Goal 3 (integrated land use planning <br />and transportation planning) is to create and implement an Orange County Comprehensive <br />Transportation Plan ("Create and implement an Orange County Comprehensive Transportation <br />Plan that provides the framework for a comprehensive and connected transportation system <br />supporting a mix of all transportation modes, including sidewalks and bicycle facilities, bus and <br />rail transit facilities, and highways. The p{an should be coordinated with the goals and objectives <br />of this Comprehensive Plan and seek to maintain and enhance community character and the <br />natural environment."). <br />Links with Commissioners Planning Principles and other Comprehensive Plan Elements <br />Objective T-3.2 is linked with 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 7 of the following Orange County Board of <br />Commissioners Planning Principles: <br />1.
