385 <br />Commissioner Jan Pinney offered a 2nd. <br />Commissioner Norman Gustaveson stated he was not prepared to re- <br />solve the issue tonight. He wished to study the reports further. <br />Commissioner Richard Whitted stated he was not prepared to vote <br />tonight for several reasons. These reasons are: <br />1. Would the State be willing to concur with either of <br />these reports in hand? <br />2. The question of an advisory referendum should be studied. <br />3. He had not been able to comp],etely study both reports. <br />Commissioner Jan Piney suggested the Board of Commissioners set <br />a definite date to decide this issue. <br />Commissioner Norman Gustaveson suggested the Board of Commissioners <br />had several issues of great significance coming up and they should con- <br />sider their entire schedule before setting a date to act upon these reports. <br />Commissioner Richard Whitted stated he felt a definite date to act <br />upon these reports should be set. <br />Commissioner Pinney then withdrew his second to Commissioner Norman <br />Walker's motion. <br />Commissioner Jan Pinney then moved the Board of Commissioners set <br />a special meeting an May 11th to consider this issue. <br />Chairman Garrett stated she felt important parts of each report <br />could be combined into one document that might have more unanimous <br />acceptance of all parties concerned. Between now and r:lay 11th we should <br />strive to complete such a document. <br />Commissioner Jan Pinney suggested copies of both reports be sent to <br />the State for their consideration and comment and that the State Park <br />representatives be asked to attend the meeting on the 11th. <br />The meeting then adjourned. ~~~~ ~~ <br />Flora R. Gattis, Acting Clerk <br />P42NUTES OF THE ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMPIISSIDNERS <br />April 29, 1976 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners reconvened as the Board <br />of Commissioners on Thursday, April 29, 1976, in the Commissioner's <br />Room of the Courthouse in Hillsborough. <br />Members of the Board present were Chairman Flora Garrett,Commissicners <br />Norman Gustaveson, Jan Pinney, Norman walker and Richard Whitted. <br />Members absent were none. <br />- Others present were S. M. Gattis, County Administrator; Neal Evans, <br />Finance Director; A. B. Coleman, Jr., County Attorney was present for a <br />portion of'the meeting; and Betty June Hayes, Clerk. <br />The first part of this meeting was conducted as the Board of Equali- <br />zation and Review and this will be covered in a separate set of minutes. <br />Chairman Garrett recognized Dr. Joseph Straley, of the Energy Con' <br />nervation Task Force and Dr. Straley introduced other members of the Task <br />Force who were present: Chandlee Barksdale, Daniel Koenigshufer and Tom <br />Dannelly. Dr. Straley presented to members of the Board the report of the <br />Energy Task Force's findings concerning the consumption 'of energy in the <br />nation, county and in the governanental buildings within the county. <br />
