l!J <br />VALUE ENGINEER <br />PERFORMANCE INDICATORS <br />Knowledge of Job: Has thorough knowledge of the methods, policies, and procedures of the <br />Purchasing and Central Services Department as they pertain to the performance of duties of the <br />Value Engineer. Has thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, programs, policies and <br />procedures of the department pertaining to the specific duties of the position. Is able to interact <br />and communicate with a variety of individuals and groups in an effective and efficient manner. <br />Has knowledge of how to develop and administer plans for the expedience and effectiveness of <br />specific duties of the position. Has good organizational, technical, management, and human <br />relations skills. Has good working knowledge of the principles of organization, planning, <br />management, and supervision as required by the County. Is able to plan and develop daily, short- <br />and long-term goals related to County purposes. Is able to plan and coordinate the most effective <br />use of personnel, facilities and resources to achieve department goals. Is able to plan, organize <br />and prioritize daily assignments and work activities. Has extensive knowledge of the various <br />codes and ordinances that relate to the activities of the department and is able to ensure <br />implementation and enforcement of such. Has knowledge of the required records, charts, <br />documents, and related information required by the County and is able to maintain proper data <br />and information as required. Is able to compile, organize and utilize various financial information <br />necessary in the preparation of the departmental budget, and knows how to prepare and monitor <br />the budget. Has knowledge of and skill in the use of computers for word processing and records <br />management. Is able to plan, carry out and evaluate the effectiveness of department procedures. <br />Is able to use independent judgment and discretion in supervising the department. Is able to give <br />oral and written instructions and to ensure timely completion of such assignments. Is able to <br />schedule daily activities and to establish short and long term priorities in order to meet <br />established goals. Is able to operate and maintain a variety of office equipment such as a <br />computer, typewriter, copier, and calculator. Is skilled in independent decision-making, judgment <br />and discretion as necessary to perform daily routine and non-routine tasks. Has comprehensive <br />knowledge of the terminology and various professional languages used within the department. <br />Has knowledge of how to maintain effective relationships with personnel of other departments, <br />professionals and members of the public through contact and cooperation. <br />Quality of Work: Maintains high standards of accuracy in exercising duties and responsibilities. <br />Exercises immediate remedial action to correct any quality deficiencies that occur in areas of <br />responsibility. Maintains high quality communication and interacts with all County departments <br />and divisions, co-workers and the general public. <br />Quantity of Work: Maintains effective and efficient output of all duties and responsibilities as <br />described under "Specific Duties and Responsibilities". <br />Dependability: Assumes responsibility for doing assigned work and for meeting deadlines. <br />Completes assigned work on or before deadlines in accordance with directives, County policy, <br />standards and prescribed procedures. Accepts accountability for meeting assigned <br />responsibilities in the technical, human and conceptual areas. <br />Attendance: Attends work regularly and adheres to County policies and procedures regarding <br />absences and tardiness. Provides adequate notice to higher management with respect to <br />vacation time and time-off requests. <br />Initiative and Enthusiasm: Maintains an enthusiastic, self-reliant and self-starting approach to <br />meet job responsibilities and accountabilities.
