Fikes, 245-2490 <br />PURPOSE: To present to the Board of Commissioners the first Annual Community Report of <br />the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness. <br />BACKGROUND: The Orange County 10 Year Plan to End Chronic Homelessness was <br />approved by the elected boards of Carrboro, Chapel Hill, and Hillsborough in the late spring of <br />2007. The Plan has five main goals that include: reducing chronic homelessness; increasing <br />employment; preventing homelessness; increasing access to services; and increasing public <br />participation. <br />The first Annual Community Report titled "Homecoming" outlines the progress that has been <br />achieved from plan adoption to December 2008. Commissioner Bernadette Pelissier is the <br />County Commissioner Representative to the Partnership to End Homelessness and will provide <br />highlights of the Annual Report. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is no financial impact. <br />RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends the Board receive the Annual Community <br />Report of the Orange County Partnership to End Homelessness as information. <br />
