e ;T. <br />MINUTES <br />ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />OCTOBER 16, 1979 <br />The Orange County Board of Commissioners met in regular session <br />on Tuesday, October 16, 1979, at 7:30 p.m., in the Commissioners Room, <br />of the Orange County Courthouse, in Hillsborough, North Carolina. <br />Commissioners present: Commissioner Richard Whitted, Chairman, <br />and Commissioners Anne Barnes, Don Willhoit, Norman Walker and <br />Norman Gustaveson. <br />Agenda Items 3 & 4: Minutes <br />Commissioner Willhoit moved, seconded by Commissioner Walker, to <br />approve the minutes of October 1, 1979, as submitted. Vote: ayes, 4; <br />noes, fl. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson was out of the room at the time of <br />the vote. <br />Commissioner Barnes moved, seconded by Commissioner Willhoit, to <br />. approve the Board of Equalization and Review minutes of t4ay 3, 1979, <br />May 9, 1979, June 12, 1979 and June 20, 1979,. as submitted. Votes <br />ayes, 4; noes, 0. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson was out of the room at the time of the <br />vote. <br />Agenda Item 5: Community School for People Under Six <br />Mr. Michael Woodard, Early Educator, and parent of a cl'iild enrolled <br />in the school, expressed his appreciation for the Commissioners support <br />of the school in the past and his hope of their support in the future. <br />' Ms. Janet Clements, representing Orange County Day Care Coalition, <br />urged the Board to include Community SchooT~for People Under Six in the <br />plans for new or renovated buildings at the Northside School site. <br />Mrs. Deanna Bullard, Orange County Department of Social Services, <br />urged the Commissioners to give consideration to space for the Community <br />School for People Under Six in the plan for uses of the Northside building. <br />Ms. Bev Mulvihill, representing Chapel Hill-Carrboro Day Care Service <br />Agency, urged the Board to consider providing space for the school's <br />operation while renovation of the building is in process. <br />Ms. Carolyn Lumpkin, parent, expressed thanks to the Commissioners for <br />their support of day care and urged their support in the future. <br />
