<br />Person, and Chatham continuously since 1944; and
<br />WHEREAS, he served the County of Lee as Health Director
<br />in addition to the aforementioned counties continuously
<br />since 1948; and
<br />WHEREAS, THE County of Caswell was added in 1959 to the
<br />aforementioned Counties served by Dr. 0. David Garvin, and
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. O. David Garvin through his understanding of
<br />health heeds has led the way for better health practices
<br />in the Counties of Orange, Person, Chatham, Lee and Caswell
<br />and has introduced new health services in these Counties;
<br />and
<br />WHEREAS, Dr. O. David Garvin retired from this position an
<br />July 30, 1975,
<br />NOW, THEREFORE,'BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board
<br />of Commissioners take action through its members, Flora
<br />Garrett, Norman Gustaveson, Jan Pinney, Norman Walker and
<br />Richard whitted, now take this means of expressing to Dr.
<br />O. David Garvin their sincere appreciation and deep gradi-
<br />tute for his able leadership and faithful service in helping
<br />create desirable changes in the Health Department, and to
<br />wish to him and his family every happiness in the years to
<br />come.
<br />Let a copy of this Resolution be presented to the said
<br />Dr. O. David Garvin, and let it be spread upon the minutes
<br />of the Orange County Board of Commissioners this 5th day of
<br />April, 1976."
<br />Upon motion of Commissioner Pinney, seconded by Commissioner
<br />Gustaveson, it was moved and unanimously adopted to approve the
<br />Resolution of appreciation for Dr, 0. David Garvin.
<br />B. The Board of County Commissioners will consider a Resolu-
<br />tion honoring Mr. W. G. Wren, County Veterans Service Officer,
<br />for his long years of service. The Chairman read the following
<br />.resolution:
<br />"WHEREAS, Walter G. Wren, Sr., has served the County of Orange
<br />as Veterans Service Officer since 1947, and
<br />WHEREAS, He retired from this position in 1963 and due to
<br />pressing conditions in the Veterans Service Office, he returned
<br />to the position of the Veterans Service Office in 1964, and
<br />WHEREAS, He retired from the position of Veterans Service Officer
<br />on March 31, 1976; and
<br />WHEREAS, He is an informed person on matter that pertain to
<br />benefits due the Veterans and their dependents and has over the
<br />years been a true friend to the Veteran and his dependents.
<br />He has provided workable solutions to problems of the service-
<br />. men and their dependents.
<br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board
<br />of Commissioners take action through its members, Flora Garrett,
<br />Norman Gustaveson, Jan Pinney, Norman Walker and Richard Whitted,
<br />their means of expressing to Walter G. Wren, Sr. their sincere
<br />_ appreciation and deep graditure for his able leadership axd
<br />faithful service over the years and wish td .him and his family
<br />every happiness in the years ahead. •'
<br />Let a copy of this Resolution be presented to the said Walter
<br />G. Wren, Sr., and let it be spread upon the minutes of the
<br />Orange County Board of Commissioners this the 5th day of April,
