~s~ <br />from $15,000.00 to $19,DOG.00 due to the emergency situations that had <br />had arisen between the Budget Aieetina of the Social Services Board <br />and this date, the Social Services Board felt these needs should be met. <br />Joseph Lee, a zepresentative of the Inter-Church Council Board, <br />stated that he was pzesent to support the Social Services Board in their <br />ef£art to continue the Chore Service Program. <br />P'Iae A'_cLendon and Barbaza Faust, members of the Social Services <br />Board, spoke in support of the $19,000.00 allocation. <br />Vera Atwater, Ttegistration Clerk for the Prange-Chatham Comprehen- <br />sive Health Program, spoke in behalf of the Chore Service Program. <br />r_arv Sanford and. Alice t.erritt described the various types of <br />clients that were receiving assistance from Chore Service. <br />A.argaret Caldwell, a Chore Worker, spoke of the cheer and comfozt <br />that was brought into the homes by the Chore Workers. <br />The Board of Commissioners questioned the Social Services Director <br />concerning the requested allocation. <br />T~Ir. T~,'ard advised the T3oard that unexpended funds were available <br />within the AFDC and Aledicaid Pzogzams. He stated that a new dizective <br />fzam the State would zequire an unanticipated charge of $30,000.00 <br />from the N.edicaid Program. Discussion .ensued. <br />Upor_ motion of Commissioner k'hitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gustaveson, it was moved that the Board comply with the request coming <br />from the Social Services Board and that $19,000.00 be allocated to the <br />Chore Service Program and that the Finance Officer and the Board of <br />Social Services prepare the proper Budget Amendment. Further discussion <br />ensued. <br />Commissioner Pinney amended the main motion by moving that the <br />County Allocate $15,000.00 to the Chore service Program and that <br />$1,000.00 for emergency situations be allocated foz Chore Service for <br />the zemainder of the fiscal year. Commissioner Walker seconded this <br />motion.
