Fields that they had no objections to the formation of the Commission, however, they wanted them to be aware of the fact that action to establish the Commission in na way committed the IIoard to appropriate monies to the Commission. Upon moti~~ of'Cammissioner L9hitted, seconded by Commissioner Gustaveson, it was moved and adopted that the Board establish the orange county Commission an the Status of TTomen as outlined in the report submitted with the exception of the financial request that taas contained in the report. The appointments to the Women's Commission will be made by the Board on the 3rd Tuesday in A:arch. Bach Gorimissioner is to appoint three members to this Commission. Chairman Garrett referred back to Item IT on the Agenda: Bicentennial request for additional funds. Discussion ensued concerning the requested appropriation. Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board appropriate $625.DD from the Contingency Fund to the Bicentennial Commission. This motion died for the lack of a second. Further discussion ensued. Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Wh.itted, it was moved that the Board appropriate $1,025.00 to the Bicentennial Commission from the Contingency Fund. Chairman Garrett called for a vote on the motion. Commissioners Garrett, Gustaveson, and Pinney voted nay. Commissioners Walker and Whitted vote aye. Chairman Garrett declared the motion defeated.. Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board appropriate $625.00 to the Bicentennial Commission. This motion died for the lack of a second. Further discussion ensued. Chairman Garrett suggested that the Board refer the request to the County Manager for recommendation as to where the money can come from for the requested appropriation. Further discussion ensued. Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board reconsider his motion to appropriate $625.00 to the 3icentennial Committee. Chairman Garrett stated that it would take a two-thirds vote for a motion to be reconsidered. Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board reconsider his motion to appropriate $625.00 to the Bicentennial Committee from the Contingency Fund. Commissioner Whitted seconded Commissioner Gustaveson's motion to reconsider his (Gustavesan's) original motion. Chairman Garrett called for the vote. Commissioners Garrett, Gustaveson, and T'Thitted vote ay.e Commissioners >?inney and Walker voted nay. Chairman Garrett declared the motion failed. Further discussion ensued. Upon motion of Commissioner Whitted, seconded by Commissioner Walker, it was moved that the County appropriate from the Contingency• Fund the sum of 51,025.00 to the Bicentennial Committee. Chairman Garrett called for the vote. Commissioners Garrett, Gustaveson, Walker and ti~Thitted vote aye. Commissioner Pinney voted nay. Chairman Garrett declared the motion passed.
