~~~~ <br />P1s, i'ields explained the intent and the purpose of the proposed <br />Commission. Discussion ensued. <br />The Board advised 1Is. Ussery and Als. Fields that they had no <br />objections to the formation of the Commission, however, they wanted them <br />to be aware of the fact that action to establish the Commission in na <br />way committed the IIoard to appropriate monies to the Commission. <br />Upon moti~~ of'Cammissioner L9hitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Gustaveson, it was moved and adopted that the Board establish the <br />orange county Commission an the Status of TTomen as outlined in the <br />report submitted with the exception of the financial request that taas <br />contained in the report. <br />The appointments to the Women's Commission will be made by the <br />Board on the 3rd Tuesday in A:arch. Bach Gorimissioner is to appoint three <br />members to this Commission. <br />Chairman Garrett referred back to Item IT on the Agenda: <br />Bicentennial request for additional funds. <br />Discussion ensued concerning the requested appropriation. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board appropriate $625.DD <br />from the Contingency Fund to the Bicentennial Commission. This motion <br />died for the lack of a second. Further discussion ensued. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Walker, seconded by Commissioner Wh.itted, <br />it was moved that the Board appropriate $1,025.00 to the Bicentennial <br />Commission from the Contingency Fund. <br />Chairman Garrett called for a vote on the motion. Commissioners <br />Garrett, Gustaveson, and Pinney voted nay. <br />Commissioners Walker and Whitted vote aye. <br />Chairman Garrett declared the motion defeated.. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board appropriate $625.00 <br />to the Bicentennial Commission. This motion died for the lack of a <br />second. Further discussion ensued. <br />Chairman Garrett suggested that the Board refer the request to the <br />County Manager for recommendation as to where the money can come from <br />for the requested appropriation. Further discussion ensued. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board reconsider his motion <br />to appropriate $625.00 to the 3icentennial Committee. <br />Chairman Garrett stated that it would take a two-thirds vote for a <br />motion to be reconsidered. <br />Commissioner Gustaveson moved that the Board reconsider his motion <br />to appropriate $625.00 to the Bicentennial Committee from the Contingency <br />Fund. Commissioner Whitted seconded Commissioner Gustaveson's motion to <br />reconsider his (Gustavesan's) original motion. <br />Chairman Garrett called for the vote. <br />Commissioners Garrett, Gustaveson, and T'Thitted vote ay.e <br />Commissioners >?inney and Walker voted nay. <br />Chairman Garrett declared the motion failed. Further discussion <br />ensued. <br />Upon motion of Commissioner Whitted, seconded by Commissioner <br />Walker, it was moved that the County appropriate from the Contingency• <br />Fund the sum of 51,025.00 to the Bicentennial Committee. <br />Chairman Garrett called for the vote. <br />Commissioners Garrett, Gustaveson, Walker and ti~Thitted vote aye. <br />Commissioner Pinney voted nay. <br />Chairman Garrett declared the motion passed. <br />
